Pastor Dave Spencer
Dave grew up in Ipswich, Massachusetts, 20 miles north of Boston. He attended Liberty University from 1984 to 1986, and then finished his degree, a Bachelor of Science in Pastoral Ministry, at New England Bible College in South Portland, Maine. During his college years, Dave would spend his summers working at White Mountain Ranch, a youth camping ministry, where he met his wife Cindy. Upon graduation, the First Baptist Church of South Portland invited Dave to be their Youth Pastor. He and Cindy had 14 wonderful years of ministry there, the last seven of which Dave served as Senior Pastor. Towards the end of their time in Maine, Dave and Cindy felt the Lord calling them back into youth ministry.
In 2002, they moved their family to Concord, New Hampshire where Dave became the Youth Pastor of CenterPoint Church. During his time there he served in various roles including Youth Pastor, Executive Pastor, Co-Senior Pastor, and acting Senior Pastor.
On March 10, 2013, Dave and Cindy were delighted to receive a unanimous invitation to come and serve as pastor at Seneca Community Church. Since his arrival in late April, Dave has been amazed the receptively of the Leadership Team, Ministry Leaders, and family of SCC to align themselves with the church’s vision of making a difference in people’s lives wherever they are! Dave is passionate about seeing people integrated into the life of Seneca Community as their relationship with God grows.
Dave received his Masters of Arts in Ministry from Moody Bible Institute. He and Cindy live in Waterloo and have enjoyed being married since 1988. They have three daughters, Sarah, Hannah, and Moriah. When he is not busy with family or church, Dave can be found winter camping, hiking, skiing or cycling the country roads of the Finger Lakes. He and Cindy love that the Finger Lakes continues to become more and more home!
Dave’s ministry focus can be summed up this way:
- Modeling how Jesus can increasingly become more his life’s center
- Mastering the study and presentation of God’s Word (a life time pursuit)
- Moving the church toward vision & mission
- Multiplying leadership within the church
Your job is to teach them the rules and instructions, to show them how to live, what to do. And then you need to keep a sharp eye out for competent men-men who fear God, men of integrity, men who are incorruptible-and appoint them as leaders over groups… If you do this and God so commands, you will be able to stand the strain, and all these people will go home satisfied. – Exodus 18:20-23
